COURSE DESCRIPTION

The CPD Seminar will serve as an informative discourse, seeking to formally introduce and elucidate the methodologies associated with two distinct modes of infrastructure procurement, specifically identified as Mode 1: Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Mode II: Design-Build Services (DBS). These modes are presented as essential paradigms for project delivery. The primary focus of the seminar will be to comprehensively address various facets of Design-Build Services, including its scope of services, diverse typologies, and overarching objectives. Furthermore, this discourse will meticulously delve into the essential statutory and professional responsibilities and liabilities inherent in the role of the Registered and Licensed Architect (RLA) when engaging in Design-Build Services as a professional endeavor, adhering to legal and ethical standards. The seminar will also seek to establish and delineate the inherent challenges and underlying issues that Registered and Licensed Architects (RLAs) may encounter when specializing in Design-Build Services. This unique specialization within the architectural field will be thoroughly examined and defined. Additionally, the it will provide a primer on the CPSP-CATS (Career Progression and specialization program and credit accumulation and transfer system) Leveling and Specialization with a specific focus on Design-Build Services (DBS). This component is intended to equip RLAs with an understanding of the professional development opportunities available within this specialized field.
