As Part 1 of UAP Qatar’s PAFNAM 2025 celebration, the Lakbay Tangway Study Tour commenced with an enriching visit to Al Riwaq Gallery, setting the tone for a meaningful journey into the region’s cultural and architectural soul. This first stop invited participants to explore spaces that embody knowledge, faith, creativity, and community—hallmarks of Qatar’s evolving cultural landscape.
The highlight of the visit was the first full-scale retrospective of world-renowned Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei (1917–2019). The exhibition offered a rare and intimate look into Pei’s remarkable seven-decade career, featuring original drawings, conceptual sketches, intricate models, and archival materials not commonly seen by the public. Each piece revealed the depth of his visionary approach, showcasing the artistry, precision, and innovation that shaped some of the world’s most iconic architectural works.
Through this immersive experience, participants gained a deeper appreciation for architectural heritage—both global and local—as they reflected on how design shapes understanding, inspires communities, and connects cultures.
A powerful beginning to a journey that continues to celebrate heritage, creativity, and progress.
