Learning Beyond Boundaries: UAP Qatar Continues to Inspire Future Architects

Amid global uncertainties and ongoing challenges across nations, the spirit of learning and service remains unwavering. Demonstrating resilience and commitment, UAP Qatar architects, in collaboration with Philippine School Doha (PSD) students, successfully conducted Career Simulation Seminar Workshop Session 5 from the safety of their homes—proving that education and mentorship transcend physical boundaries.

The session opened with an insightful discussion on Environmental Planning, delivered by Ar. Miluna Alegada and introduced by mentor Ar. Michael Niño Garcia. Students were immersed in the critical role architects and planners play in shaping communities through thoughtful consideration of environmental, social, and spatial factors. The talk highlighted the importance of sustainable development, responsible land use, and designing spaces that protect natural resources while fostering resilient and livable environments.

Following this, the second session focused on Building Techniques and Construction, led by Ar. Jomel Gomez and introduced by mentor Ar. Hamza Rufil Eliseo. Students explored the comprehensive process of construction—from site preparation and foundation work to structural framing, roofing, and finishing. The discussion emphasized the significance of selecting appropriate materials to ensure durability, safety, and functionality. Additionally, the concept of smart buildings was introduced, showcasing how modern technologies, energy-efficient systems, and intelligent design contribute to sustainable and comfortable structures.

The interactive Q&A session reflected the enthusiasm and curiosity of PSD students, as they actively engaged with the speakers, asked insightful questions, and shared ideas—further deepening their understanding of architecture and its evolving practices.
