August 23, 2024, DOHA, QATAR – In a landmark event, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Qatar Chapter hosted its first ever Town Hall Meeting with a webinar, revealing key benefits for its 200 plus active members and disclosing strategic plans for the organization, while providing corporate brand promotion opportunities for design and construction companies in Qatar through tailored sponsorship packages.
Held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Doha Old Town, the event was attended on-site and on Zoom by the current board of directors, past presidents, members, VIP guest MarValley IPP Arch. Mylene Regodon, and event sponsor - Creative Spaces Trading and Contracting Co. headed by Mr. Subodh Gulati and some of his Filipino employees. Mr. Gulati presented a short but insightful introduction of their company and some notable projects, conveying their resilience especially during the pandemic in 2019 and 2020.

Providing more value to its corporate events in Qatar, the chapter conducted a Live Webinar inviting two distinguished resource speakers from the Philippines. ENP Arch. Rey S. Gabitan discussed the current amendments to the Architectural Code of the Philippines, while Arch. Royal Pineda highlighted “Modern Filipino Architecture and Design, and the Culture of Betterment”.
Moving on to the second part of the program, the Town Hall Meeting started with a discussion on membership renewal procedures and status as shared by Arch. Dawne Brown, Head of Membership Care Committee. Treasurer Arch. Emmanuel Tiglao also disclosed the current financial report.
Chapter President Arch. Jayson Santos presented a report on various endeavors and collaborations by the chapter since July and the projected activities for the whole fiscal year. Santos also divulged strategic programs prepared by the chapter including PPOQ Collaborations, Skills Module Trainings, Complimentary Kits, Compassionate Fund, and SPLE Assistance. He further revealed key benefits of active membership including full amnesty; incentives and corporate discounts; Rookie, Loyalty, and Service Awards; and programs on Featured Filipino Architects in Qatar , UAP College of Fellows and ASEAN Architect, among others. He also announced the relaunch of the UAP Qatar Chapter’s website to enhance its brand visibility and maximize marketing efforts in line with UAP National’s directive on Future Progressive Architect, One Strong UAP.
Most concerns raised during the open forum were earnestly addressed by the BOD, including the success of the company registration (obtaining license, computer card, and official office address). The opening of a company bank account, membership drive and reconnecting to inactive members, and other important matters were also discussed.
Additionally, over 50 chapter merchandise items and prizes were given to lucky members who won the raffle. The event concluded successfully, thanks to the exemplary efforts of Arch. Mary Yasmin dela Torre and Arch. Argen Bartolata, who served as the masters of ceremony.
